I gave my retro country kitchen a contemporary coastal makeover! I added 112 sq ft by reducing the size of the 3rd bedroom, which also brought the side door into the kitchen. I added French doors in lieu of the single side door to replace some of the light lost by closing the window where the stove is, vaulted the ceilings to align with the rest of the house, introduced a honed marble backsplash in a herringbone pattern, and had a built-in bench made for a cozy nook.
