@LibertyMutual has refused to rule out insuring the Trans Mountain tar sands pipeline and has not adopted restrictions on insuring tar sands oil, despite fellow insurers being capable of exiting this dirty energy business. Tar sands are one of the worst, highest carbon sources of oil on the planet. We're at a point when we need to be transitioning off fossil fuels – not building more of them! New research from LittleSis and @rainforestactionnetwork may have uncovered why Liberty has been so slow to move on climate policies: Liberty Mutual’s board is closely entangled with the fossil fuel industry, with nearly 70% of its directors having fossil fuel and extractive industry ties. In other words, a major conflict of interest!
