Day 3 recap. After two day hikes from home base, we started our 4 day trek through the higher sections of the red rock and white Dolomite mountains. It’s steep and rocky and hot in the sun. Everyone is working hard. We hiked 4.5 hours of the steep section and then stopped for a delicious lunch at a refugio where they served goulash and polenta and deer and pine ice cream with strudel. And wheat beer with lemonade. Had to try a sip of that—so good. We continues through rolling valleys to our Refugio Ucia de Fodara Vedla and half of us continued on for an extra hike to a cave and other peaks. At our team dinner several hikers started showing signs of sunburns despite reapplying their sunscreens many times today. Even at mid altitude, sun exposure is more intense and we need to help our sunscreen with wearing hats and sunglasses and clothing that covers our shoulders and bodies. Please hit the link in our bio and support the cause—prevent skin cancer through education and building shade structures in parks and community areas to reduce sun exposure. Today was especially meaningful as one of our friends and hikers underwent planned surgery and it went well! Our team had a moment of gratitude and sent our blessings. 🙏💓❤️
