Dear @BBC. We were disappointed and shocked to see scars described as “marks of shame” on your popular #BBCTwo quiz show #OnlyConnect recently. Having a scar is nothing to be ashamed of. Many people might acquire one in their lifetime, for many reasons. What is a shame is that as a society, we’re still perpetuating the myth that there is something wrong or problematic with visible differences like scars. Words matter. We hope that as an inclusive organisation, you will step up and commit to learning more about how to better represent those with visible differences. We’re here to help facilitate this.
