On Friday evening, I said goodbye to my best friend. Gatsby passed away exactly 11 years and one week from the day I brought her home. I am devastated and my heart is completely broken. Gatsby came into my life at a time when I needed her most and she was absolute, pure love. She made a friend on every walk we took, greeting every person and dog she encountered. Everyone who knew her loved her. We shared countless adventures and endless snuggles across five cities, though I am extremely grateful for all the time the past couple of years allowed us to have together, especially the 2.5 months we just had at the beach house. Gatsby loved roaming the yard on little solo expeditions and was happy to lay in her favorite spot under the dining table. I never imagined the unconditional love I would have for my sweet, gentle, affectionate pup. And as I try to start and end my days with new routines that no longer include her, I know I am forever changed. I miss you dearly, Gatsby Girl. I will love you forever.
