It'd be so wonderful if farming was just about planting seeds, harvesting the crops, and selling at market! Unfortunately, that's only a small part of what goes into running a farm. Not only do we need to be experts in agriculture, but also need to be skilled in plumbing, electric, mechanics, ironwork, and construction. Last week, there was an issue with one of our trucks and it took two of us over 7 hours to fix the problem! When a storm comes and knocks down one of the high tunnels, we need to pull out our tools so we can fix the steel rods and cover. Understanding soil, compost, fertilizer, disease, and wildlife requires knowledge of chemistry and biology. And let’s not forget - we are running a business which includes: spreadsheets, bookkeeping, payroll, HR, marketing, and social media! It's so important to know that there's so much more that goes into the products we produce than just planting the seeds and harvesting them. We're incredibly passionate, love what we do, and wouldn’t trade it for the world!
