The exterior of this London townhouse, which was designed to harmonize with the surrounding 19th-century houses, was what first caught the attention of its current homeowner. Inside, the rooms were cramped and carpeted, and in back the garden had been mostly paved over. But glancing out the windows on the second floor, he was unexpectedly charmed by what he saw. “The view was over the back gardens of all the other houses,” he says. “It was this remarkable borrowed landscape—unbelievably green.” Designer Veere Grenney (@veere_grenney) knew that less would be more in this Alexander Hoyle (@alexander.hoyle)-designed backyard haven, adding outdoor furniture by @munderskiles and letting the greenery do the rest.
