Survivors of sexual assault deserve not only to survive but also to thrive. That's why Rise is producing our second annual Survivor Fashion Show. Survivors and allies will walk the runway together as models during New York Fashion Week to show the world that there is healing for everyone. During fashion week one of the most commonly asked questions is “What were you wearing?” It’s a fun and empowering question about our fashion choices. Survivors of sexual violence have heard this question too, after their assault. It is the same exact words but in a dramatically different context. This exact sentence was asked to disempower and blame survivors. That’s also why Rise is bringing back the New York Fashion Week Survivor Fashion show with survivors walking the runway reclaiming this sentence.
