Colombia FAQ: 🇨🇴 Did I feel safe? Yes. A major part of this was bc we had the same driver in MEDELLÍN so we were never waiting around or lallygagging - and he helped us navigate small things like where to go, how much money we should (or shouldn’t) take on us, and what NOT to do when we went certain places. In Cartagena, it was a short trip, but we had both favor and good judgement. There was never a time when we felt unsafe but I could see how that could easily be the case. 🇨🇴 Fav part of the trip? The hike in Medellín! It was a moderately intense hike - so an amazing workout. It was about 4.25 miles and 10,000 steps and we even rock climbed a bit (kinda risky but fun). 🇨🇴 Need to know: The part no one talks about on TikTok is how horrible it is upon arrival. We waited in customs for 2+ hours in Cartagena, missed our flight to Medellin and just had such a horrible travel experience. I know customs isn’t always the best experience but I’m well traveled and can say this was one of the worst for sure. And then, on the way home we were literally picked on. I’m not sure if they flagged us but we got hand searched, x-rayed, and sooo much more in both Colombia AND America. In America they were waiting.. no LOOKING FOR US! 🇨🇴 Need To Know (2): Most of the clubs in Medellín require you to have on heels so wear heels or just know you’ll have a limited selection of where you can party. 🇨🇴 How was the food? We had both good and bad meals. My least favorite was at Alambique which was a popular place on TikTok but nothing was good to us. My most favorite was Runico. Everything was delicious! Even the drinks! Otherwise, we ate brunch at Le Brunch and the cinnamon roll was FYE! Everyone loved what they ordered and the DJ was DJing and singing. So cute!
