Last October I got to be a part of one of the most momentous pieces of work I’ve ever come across, Lucy Kirkwood’s MARYLAND. Honoured to have been asked to perform in the inaugural cast of this incredible project we had a single day to pull it together. The response we got over the three nights we performed it in the Jerwood Upstairs @royalcourttheatre will stay with me forever. Mind blowing. It was visceral. And now with a beautiful new cast led by the brilliant @hayzsquires, @zawe and @danielmays9 it has been created as a short film and broadcast on BBC2 last week for even more audiences to see. The text, of course, is incredible and the direction and performances of all involved are a chilling insight into the realities and fears of many many women (including trans women) up and down our country.
