This is by no means a defense of the BLM ORGANIZATION. But just reading the facts paints a different picture than what the current narrative is. (BTW if you REALLY care about the way donations are spent, the PUBLICLY available financials of the American Red Cross show that out of the $2.8 BILLION in revenue, $1.4 BILLION went to “COMPENSATION.” Which means 50% of that money is not going to the people or causes, but to salaries) For the intentionally dense ones, the Black Lives Matter MOVEMENT started after Trayvon Martin was murdered by George Zimmerman in 2012. I know most of you thought it started after you posted your Black square on Instagram in 2020. But the MOVEMENT has been around for 10 years now. Just because you didnt care about it til 2020 doesnt mean it didnt exist. The BLM ORGANIZATION was officially incorporated in 2017... The IRS report shows that 70% of BLM’s expenses went to grants for grassroots organizations and families of victims of police brutality. The next largest line item is its investment into an ENDOWMENT. Which is literally what every University, Trust, Large Charity does to allow the donation money to grow for operations and keep the principle in tact. Were there some funds misused? Im sure. Were there some personal expenses paid for by the organization? Yes. But the facts show more of a small start up that had exponential growth without the necessary infrastructure to handle it. And that would likely be the case for any person or small business that was struggling for years and suddenly saw $100M in their account in less than 6 months. There’s a reason 75% of all lottery winners go broke. To try to paint a picture that the BLM MOVEMENT and the ORGANIZATION are the same thing is intentionally misleading. To try spread a narrative that BLM was just a scam is also false. While they were not prepared or ready to deal with it, the misdeeds of the leadership is being magnified and promoted purely for the purpose of discrediting an entire movement
