Who do we choose to remember? The Mine is a major new artwork by @rcaprint alumnus Jay Price (@jpriceart): the memorial that was never built, for the people no one remembers. In this multi-platform artwork, which is available as a free interactive game (Android and iOS), audiobook, and BSL and audio-described films, the user is immersed in 'the mine' - a derelict space found underneath a locked art gallery. As you wander through the space, you come across artefacts and artworks to engage with that expose overlooked histories and contemporary examples of sinister and brutal disability discrimination. The Mine is described as 'a visceral unravelling of ableist social tropes, human rights violations, and grassroots resistance'. Jay created The Mine after receiving the Adam Reynolds Award 2022, which provides a £10k bursary and a creative residency opportunity to a mid-career disabled artist. Follow @jpriceart to see the full ‘making of’ video which will be released in the coming days. The Mine was developed with: - @ShapeArts - @HotKnifeDigitalMedia - @nicholasfaris (RCA MA Sound Design @rcaied, 2022) - Mike Faulkner (Lead Technical Instructor in 3D Graphic Arts) 🔗 Download the app via the link in our bio. #VideoGame #InteractiveArt #DisabilityHistoryMonth
