This is my 4th butterfly, and by far my favorite. The new take which renders butterfly as a puppet "doll" was utterly breathtaking. and the ending which sees butterfly not as a tragic hopeless romantic, but an agent of her own will and decider of her own destiny was far and away the most moving interpretation of this work that I've ever seen. Massive props to @operaphila for taking on this incredible new production.
