To celebrate @blackgirlssmoke reaching 40k, I’ve rounded up some candid & truly intimate moments of me doing the work that @jaysonpaulino has captured over the past year. In 2020 I sat in my living room and created @blackgirlssmoke. At the time it was an outlet on Instagram where I could post cannabis content, because major brands weren’t willing to work with me if I posted it on my main page (an issue I am still working to shift in the content creator industry) What started as a simple personal project has grown into something more than I could’ve imagined. We have built a community, we have sparked conversation, and we are the largest digital platform in the world that caters to black women who consume cannabis. What we have been able to do in 2 years (without funding, without major backing, with no paid marketing) is something that I am truly proud of and forever grateful for. I have pushed my mind, body, and spirit to the limit to spread this knowledge and to really change the narrative of what it means to be a black woman who smokes weed.
