Eureka O’Hara (@eurekaohara) finally feels free to be herself. Last week, in a People magazine exclusive, the "Drag Race" legend shared that she is a transgender woman, revealing that filming the third season of the LGBTQ+ travel series "We’re Here" had inspired her to come out. On the most recent episode of the HBO reality show, which aired last Friday, O’Hara visited Florida with fellow franchise alums Bob the Drag Queen and Shangela, where they met Mandy, a woman who had transitioned at age 70. O’Hara had previously lived as trans for five years in Tennessee, beginning at age 18, before detransitioning and living as nonbinary; but meeting Mandy sparked something in her. Last month, ahead of the season three premiere of "We’re Here," O’Hara talked candidly with us about the emotional journey of filming the new season. Here, ee continue the conversation, learning more about O’Hara’s coming-out experience, her feelings about anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, and the urgency she feels to use her voice for good.
