well. due to the world-famous coronavirus i am once again spending many days on end without leaving my house which means i am once again spending full days washing my hands. i love washing my hands - i find it sensorally pleasing and emotionally restorative. but as with anything you rely on, my relationship with washing my hands can be complicated. needing something makes you vulnerable when you can’t have it; rely on something too much and the world starts organizing itself around it. you start to remember the slimes and dirt that coat every surface, and soon enough the only place that feels safe is the sink. a beautiful and pure thing can corrupt everything around it in comparison.
