If you’re familiar with Hong Kong, some of the hanging light fixtures at M+ may have caught your attention. Their design was inspired by the red butcher’s lamp shades that light up the city’s wet markets.
Here, they’ve been captured outside the main Artist Square Entrance of M+ by @lizeatery.
Architects Herzog & de Meuron (@herzogdemeuron) designed ‘Hong Kong Lamps’. Italian manufacturer Flos (@flos) produced them.
Lee Chi-wing, founder of Milk Design (@milkdesignlimited), has also taken reference from the humble butcher’s lamp. Says Lee: ‘I hope the products I design can be used by many people. So, I choose materials that are economical and don’t require a complicated production process... When designing this [“Repair—floor lamp”; final image of post], I wanted to transform the hanging lamps typically found in markets into something different. It can be turned into a desk or floor lamp to be used at home.’

Herzog & de Meuron(@herzogdemeuron)的建築師設計了「香港燈」,而意大利生產商Flos(@flos)製造這些燈具。
Milk Design(@milkdesignlimited)
