The Earthly mix series has a new home on @nts_radio - and the first show is tomorrow! I started the Earthly series trying to figure out a ‘feelings first’ mix style that wasn’t so strictly bound to tempo and genre, and it’s since become my favourite way of DJing. Now it’s February 2022, and not without a little melancholy, recording this show forced me to reflect and reminisce on all the things that made me want to start collecting records in the first place at 17....way before I'd even stepped foot in a proper club. In my little bedroom, vibing out to Astro Unicorn Radio (!), ancient Ron Hardy mixes on deephousepage .com, 100-song datpiff mixtapes and YouTube vinyl rips....getting a crash course in house, disco, techno, electro, RnB, post-punk, boogie funk, hip-hop, library music, the cosmic, the avant-garde and the psychedelic all at once - what a world this was! The sound of drum machines hitting tape, aching, bittersweet chords, yearning vocals and distant basslines, like the promise of something more exciting happening somewhere out there in the night, a secret world beyond your bedroom window. Records that feel new & inevitable & strange & happy & sad & cool....basically the best ones. 4pm gmt I hope you enjoy the show xx
