For 4 weeks I have to say goodbye to Teddy as he goes into a board and train program. Over the last two months, Teddy has become my best buddy. We’ve bonded deeply; and he’s also had time to settle in and learn routines. In establishing his structure I have discovered many of the ins and outs of his personality. He’s a huge lover across the board and for the most part, has transitioned seamlessly into my life. However, I take being his Dad with great responsibility so it’s important that I advocate for him in every way I can. Adopting a dog is a major commitment, whether you’re bringing home a puppy or an adult, and as he’s decompressed there are behaviors I want to proactively get ahead of with the support from a highly recommended, trusted trainer. He has some triggers and the occasional reactivity towards dogs, passing cars or humans. While he’s away they’re going to work on building his confidence to put him in a peaceful, sound state of mind. I’m excited to watch his journey, and continue on with his training when he gets home. It’s going to be so hard to not have him with me for a month, but I know this is the best decision for him to be the happiest, healthiest dog he can be. Miss him so much already.
