I’m going to share my own personal experiences with adaptogens.
As a baby, I was allergic to everything - every type of food, and had flaky patches on my scalp, affecting my hair growth. My mum literally fed me a brew of adaptogenic herbs in my baby bottle, and it helped strengthen my baseline.
I’ve also suffered from eczema and rosacea from a very young age, and it carried on til I was about 12 years old. I would even get eczema on my face. Forehead, cheeks, nose - as a female going through puberty, it was embarrassing. To help heal quicker, I slathered a thick layer of cortisone (Band aid solution!) on every morning before I went school, hoping my classmates wouldn’t notice that I looked as shiny as a glazed donut. Eczema, as it turned out, was a visible sign of an internal issue.
During this time, I was introduced to yet another brew of adaptogenic herbal medicine that kicked my adrenal function into gear, addressing the underlying imbalance.
Over the years, I’ve tried all types of pills and concoctions for stress, anxiety and period symptom control, but herbs, in particular adaptogenic herbs, always worked the quickest for me, and were the most effective.
Experimenting with these herbs topically, we were able to see a similar result in addressing stressed out skin, scalps, and hair. And we are happy to share our findings with the world.
