I don’t receive a lot of testimonials. Well, I take that back, I do but they are usually a couple sentences expressing thanks or they’re usually shown in orders of prints or files etc. One popped in my inbox from this session. @oliviacarson is a writer and I wanted to share it. But her being a writer it’s longer than I can share here so I’m going to splatter the rest of it in my stories. It starts like this : There’s so much I could write about Jon’s work with our family, but I find myself lost for words in the best way imaginable–even as a professional writer. 😊 We weren’t the typical kind of “family portrait” clients–at least I didn’t think so. Regardless, Jon captured us just as we were: A gaggle of adult children, a couple of camera-shy spouses, a teething baby, a dad in chemotherapy, and our grandparents–both pushing 90. Still, Jon managed to make all of us feel important, interesting, and so worth documenting. No pretenses, no “round hole, square peg” kind of stuff. He documented our various dynamics with ease, directing us into groupings and compositions that felt meaningful but not at the cost of authenticity.
