To all the single moms- on Mothers Day. It might feel/be like any other day.. and that is okay... well because quite frankly it is. No matter how much you may wish or desire the ability to escape the reality of unmet expectations that today is about you. It’s not. It’s about the one that made you mama, mommy, or mom. Just like any other day. All the responsibilities of your tiny human fall on you. The idea of something fun and special may have been met with a fussy and snotty nose like myself that lead me to a quick backyard picture and self timer smile into a snuggled state of rock a bye baby songs until they’re fast asleep. I hope you remind yourself that the feeling of LOVE, the feeling of JOY and the feeling of safety is YOU and what being a mom actually is-is what Mother’s Day is and what every day is meant to be. Though today may have social pressure to be something fun or special-I hope you allow yourself to feel any and welcome all emotions, roller coaster or wave-brought your way today. But please... to all my single moms on Mother’s Day let me remind you-Your don’t need a fancy day, luxury bouquet, or brunch-if you focus on what being a mother truly is- your child will ALWAYS find comfort in your voice, your child will always find comfort in your touch, your presence will always be enough.
