I was just pressing "share” on this post when I looked up and saw a female Painted Bunting, which we’ve never seen in our yard. (second photo) Yesterday on the way home from the Native Plant Sale at the @wildflowercenter I saw signs for an Estate Sale so I stopped by to take a look. In the backyard I saw this three tier concrete fountain, something I have wanted for ages but never splurged on. I had an extra pond pump at home and was able to get it for $30. Kevin and I cleaned it and set it up in the afternoon and within an hour this beautiful male Painted Bunting stopped by for a drink and a bath. We usually only see him once per year and were sure we had missed this year's visit. I found the son of the woman whose estate sale it was and sent him a photo and he responded by telling me what beauty the fountain brought to their yard growing up in Austin. I'm so happy to give the fountain a second life and have already spent many hours enjoying the sounds of the running water.
