TW: Racist comments. We asked you again to share some of the everyday racist comments you encounter that have been normalised - and we know there are so many more. We shared this post last year and it caused a lot of controversy, some people could relate to these remarks but others found it really hard to understand why these would be seen as racist. ’They’re just innocent observations right?' That’s exactly how microaggressions work. They usually come from a place of politeness and curiosity but can cause harm and embarrassment to Black people and Poc. The term 'microaggression' does not reflect the impact of repeatedly dealing phrases like the examples in this post, it's exhausting, draining and upsetting. We have updated this post and over the next few months we are going to be breaking each one down and explaining why they are harmful.
