Today is Russias‘ National Day and I decided to create a little distant act for that matter. The performer who helped me to film remained obviously anonymous. 🚬 I am addressing the famous work of a chinese (world) artist - Ai Weiwei @aiww whose art always resonates with me as we are both have similar backgrounds of living in Asian communities with aggressive rulers. 🚬 His photo of the middle finger in front of Tiananmen, Beijing is taken from the series made between 1995 and 2017. Throughout the series, viewers see Ai’s left arm extended forward with the middle finger raised to significant institutions, landmarks and monuments around the world (including Moscow + on the request, White House version in stories🤞🏻). These pictures mimic tourists’ photos and encourage people to question their adherence and acceptance towards governments, institutions and establishments. The governments never represented what we are, never represented our countries and our culture. With the further growth of the population and their education, the current systems become more than obsolete.
