We Live As We Die is a group exhibition curated by Sakinna Gairey as a tribute to the facets of grief that are integral to how we process life and death. I’m grateful for her inclusion of an image from my first ever photo series, Angel, shot in 2018. The project was a personal tribute to a childhood friend who passed away and my first attempt at making sense of my emotions with a camera. It’s a beautiful full circle moment seeing work I created at the beginning of my photography journey resonate with other people years on. Along with developing a new understanding of what I was trying to do back then. I’m also excited to be in this show with a group of talented artists!
