Leisurely eating over drinks and laughing, one small bite at a time... mezze, Izakaya, call it what you want. Every culture has it. And it was an honor to have the hands and palate of @somamutsuko on my food. She answered the call well-- looked to Arabiyya for inspiration-- and infused her Japanese flavor bombs in iconic Arab dishes. Everything she touches is pure magic. We may not have the same flavor profiles in our cuisine (sesame? Eggplant?) But we have the techniques, the philosophies, and the spirit! Thank you @hannyatousea for hosting me at your space and bringing a community I never knew I had in Seattle! Two sold out turns and lovely folks from sake drinking regulars to first generation Arab women. Special shout out to @mamnoonrestauranr who rolled deep with the Arab hospitality bringing lovely mezze treats on which we gladly feasted on after a long day 😀 I love diaspora. I love my growing community. Seattle I'll be back for sure!!
