It’s Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month and I’m honored to partner with @google to celebrate the life and work of Stacey Park Milbern as today’s #GoogleDoodle.
Stacey was a queer, Korean-Aamerican, disability rights activist who developed disability justice. A framework that ensures traditionally marginalized groups within the disabled community aren’t left out of the fight for disability rights. Stacey’s work has had a huge impact on me. My community is qeer, colorful, and disabled. Intersectionality is at the forefront of my comedy, writing, and the shows I produce. Her work inspires me to continue fighting for film, television, and media that includes stories starring, created, written, and produced by disabled talent. Stacey’s work is a reminder that we don’t progress as a society unless we treat the most vulnerable amongst us with dignity and respect.
Today’s Google Doodle is a tribute to Stacey on what would have been her 35th birthday. Join me and Google in celebrating Stacey Park Milbern’s legacy and the work that still needs to be done in the disability justice movement.
