You can let it go..... The bedtime bottle of milk. It can often be hung on to for dear life by a toddler and by parents who are exhausted raising a small family and in need of sleep. There are reasons though that It needs to be faded out ideally at age 1, but hopefully by age 2. ✅Oral health ✅Night time toileting ✅Fussy eating These are just a few of the factors impacted by its persistence at the end of toddlerhood. You are not alone though if you are finding it a tough one to move on from though. I understand. According to the American Association of Paediatrics, you should start weaning your child off a bottle before they are 18 months old – when your baby is old enough to understand the transition, but young enough to let it go without too much fuss. Introducing a cup from 6 months can help your child wean off the bottle. If children feel upset about weaning, a warm drink from a cup, extra comfort and quality time can help. I hear you when you say it’s not easy. Some big feelings can surface for toddlers when bottles are not on offer... The challenge is bottle feeding can promote cavities in children with teeth. Formula milk contains lactose, which is a form of sugar. Prolonged bottle use, especially before bedtime, leads to an accumulation of sugar in their teeth. The challenge is with giving up a bottle age two and above is, they have worked out they have choices. Your choices are not their choices. Start reducing the amount Assign specific times and locations for bottle use Try reducing the temperature Create a tea party scene with small dainty cups to drink milk from rather than a bottle. Slowly reducing dependency to set yourselves on the right direction. Replacing with a cosy activity and extra snuggles rather than a “cold turkey” removal may help to kick start the removal of bottles at bedtime. #parentingadvice #parenttipsandtricks #heretohelp #pottytraininng #bottle #baby #babytiktok #parenttipsandtricks
