TWO FIRSTS! Not only was it the first time seeing @pearljam perform live, it was also my first time at the most legendary venue, @apollotheater in Harlem, New York City. The theatre was built in 1913 and reopened in 1934 as the Apollo. So many greats have played there...Ella Fitzgerald, Motown Revue, Buddy Holly, James Brown, Jimi Hendrix...the list goes on and on. What an intimate and iconic show it was. It was part of @siriusxm Small Stage Series which was supposed to take place March of 2020 with the release of the band’s latest album Gigaton but had to be rescheduled due to Covid. One of the highlights for me was when during technical difficulties Eddie picked up his guitar, sitting at the very edge of the stage, and without any amplification sang “Keep Me In Your Heart” to the silent crowd. It was one of those NYC magical nights that will never be forgotten. So euphoric to listen to live music again. It had been way too long.
