I often get asked how do I get Bramble to look at me when there is a lot of distractions and the only answer I can give is lots of training and @bravepawco little fishies 🐟 During this photo a dog is passing us growling and lunging and Bramble had been trained to avoid eye contact with the dog to prevent provoking them. She looks at me and knows by my face that she is making good decisions. We try not to talk or move as we can't be certain if it is us of Bramble that could be the trigger. Our training is based on my 💁‍♀️experience with a nervous rescue as a teen and not really being able to advocate for her. I have spent a lot of time thinking back, trying to understand how we could have done better by her. I also don't want Bramble to ever make a dog feel uncomfortable so I have focussed a lot of time in trialing her manners and waiting on a command to interact.
