I’m not one for a lengthy caption, but if you feel inclined...
summer honors 22 taught me one major thing about our Father in Heaven: He loves silence. On Saturday night during devotion time, the guys were challenged to be silent for 15 minutes. The goal was to sit and be still in the presence of God. As soon as time began, I started to pray. I have been wired to associate silence in a spiritual setting to mean I should pray, but that is not the case. My thoughts were racing and my mind was not focusing. I was only “silent” for two out of the 15 minutes. But those two minutes were special, forcing my mind to think of things from above. In those two minutes there was peace.
This world never stops turning, so maybe, just maybe, God wants to use the moments where we are intentionally silent to speak to us.
