6 years ago this week vs today 😭 If you don't know athenas story, after finding out that she had kidney failure and brain damage doctors told us that she wouldn't have any quality of life, their recommendation was that we take her home with hospice care. The first video you're seeing was one reuben took of me the day after they told us that. We ended up in another month long battle to have Athena transferred to Boston for the second opinion that would ultimately save her life. If there's one piece of parenting advice I may offer, it's to always trust your gut. Trusting ours saved Athena. Now, here we are, 6 years later. Athena laughs and plays. Loves peppa pig and Minnie mouse. She waits for her granny to visit by the window. Athena has an amazing quality of life, and we never would have gotten this far if we listened to those doctors all those years ago.
