7 things Urologists want you to Know:
1. We don't just treat men - obviously if you've been following me already, you know this because my subspecialty is in female pelvic floor issues.
2. We are surgeons- well duh, but some people don't realize that urology is a surgery specialty. It takes 5-6 years of training because of this.
3. Odds are we will need urine so come ready to pee - if you're going to see a urologist > try and come with some urine in your bladder so we don't have to use "other means" to get some liquid gold.
4. Also come prepared for your genitals to get examined. That may include a rectal exam for penis owners. I mean we are the private part specialists.
5. We cringe when you say "kidney pain" when referring to some back pain that has yet to be diagnosed to be kidney related or not. It helps us a LOT more if you just describe your pain as best as possible without assuming it's origin. That really goes for any kind of pain
6. Losing urine when you don't intend to is NEVER normal. Periodt.
7. Y'all and these gas station enhancement pills. Lol. We definitely don't recommend them.
