Creating vs the creation
One important lesson I've learned as a model and producer is that the balance between planning and flow is the key to a successful shoot and getting your magic shot.
As a producer, planning the details of a shoot is crucial to the team's success.
-know the needs of the client & create a shot list
-know how to accomplish your goal for the shoot
-ask a lot of questions, but if you can find the answer for yourself do that first. Don't bother people if you can help it. Everyone is busy!
-be over prepared
By creating an effective game plan, you also end up giving the team time to play because you don't overshoot and you create time for experimental shots. This is important because that's when their true vision shines through. No stress, no expectations~~ just their true essence!
Sometimes this is easier said then done, but is my personal goal for every shoot. We all got into this because of the art and are being hired because they like our style. We might as well do our best to accomplish the goals set by the client while enjoying ourselves, working as a team, and making something that we can be proud of!
For this shoot, the team planned everything from the stying & glasses, mood, makeup, and locations. Even still, because we were open to the possibilities and followed our intuition of what art means to us, we found new angles, textures, locations, and combinations that gave us images that were beyond what we had expected.
As a model, communication with the photographer/director is key to make sure the mood is being conveyed. Ask questions before the shoot so that you can plan, practice, and be fully prepared to deliver the emotions and energy needed for the images. By preparing, you create space for a natural flow and room for your magic to shine through.
