It’s hard to put this one into words. I first met Olivia at the top of 2020 right before lockdown. I already loved her songwriting, but I was taken aback by the way she talked about music, culture and her vision like someone twice her age. It’s been the biggest honor and privilege to watch her magic firsthand ever since. My favorite artists have always been the Olivia Rodrigos: the fearless narrators who pack their most vivid experiences, feelings and worldview into songs and ship them off to the collective consciousness on behalf of their generation. The creatives who are bold in their choices and are determined to build worlds around their music. And those real people who make everyone around them feel special and valued. SOUR is the debut album by the most gifted and rare of humans, crafted over the past year during a strange time for us all. These 11 songs have soundtracked so many vivid moments of my life and I’m so happy that everyone can create their own memories with them now.
