Later, European ships crossing the Atlantic introduced terriers to control rodents on ships. British loyalists fleeing the American Revolutionary War brought their Carolina dogs similar to retrievers. Centuries of this evolution combined with ‘survival of the fittest’ theory in stray street dogs, result in today’s Royal Bahamian Potcake.
