One week ago, I crossed the finish line at IRONMAN Arizona, the culmination of a year of training and preparation for my first (and only?! TBD...) long distance triathlon: 140.6 miles of 🏊🏼‍♂️🚴🏼‍♂️🏃🏻‍♂️, including my first marathon. Throughout this IRONMAN journey, I’ve felt so uplifted by Team Maya, my family, friends, and each of you. During those 991 minutes I spent on the IRONMAN course (from sunrise to sunset...and then some), I never once felt alone. After a scare on the bike course and a race against the clock during the marathon, I finished 8 minutes and 20 seconds before the final race cut off time. I was grateful and moved to have my parents there — alongside @joshpence, @jamesktris, and @director_nes — and even more emotional to be awarded the IRONMAN finisher medal by my incredible mom. I can’t thank you enough for every encouraging DM, text, comment, phone call, and positive well-wish you sent my way — not only about the physical training, but also in support of my broader recovery journey from a very difficult few years. You powered me and Maya through, and I’ll forever be grateful. 🤍
