!🌟 ⭐️ So excited to reveal I have been appointed as Contributing Editor for @elleuk ! 🌟 ⭐️ There’s a couple of reasons why this is so exciting. 1. @kenyahunt is an absolute visionary, and I am so excited to be a part of the future of ELLE, at the helm of such a pioneering supporter of Black women and amongst a new cohort of some real favourite people in various fields 2. I actually started my career in fashion magazines! Aged 13, I ripped my way through internships at fashion magazines, living in fashion cupboards and perfecting the art of delivering clothes and picking up iced lattes for the chance to write about Fashion Week shows. It was when I was working at @tankmagazine with @carolineissa on their Art Issue, that I got my first writing credit reviewing art shows, and so sparked a confirmation in me that writing about art - and how it impacts the world around us - is what really gets me going. Many bylines and curatorial credits later, it feels very full circle to be imparting my ideas on art to one of our iconic fashion titles. 3. My curatorial practice is very rooted in disruption and the unexpected. As you can see from my past shows, I love to impart ideas, new ways of thinking, new lens by which to see the world in how I curate. I cannot wait to galvanise @elleuk with ideas on art and how it relates to our everyday lives, to the future, and to many lived experiences 4. I bloody love fashion. I am a total geek when it comes to searching for archival pieces, finding new young designers to wear and support. For so long I thought perhaps, as an academic, I should tone down this enamourment. Will people take me seriously? Life is too short - ideas are important and you can wear them on your chest. So excited that @lizzobeeating is on @kenyahunt first cover. What an epic start! I will be joining @emmadabiri @camillecharriere @lynettesaid @drewomaukeleghe @sharmadeanreid and so many brilliant others. 🍒
