Dust devils are known to form when a pocket of hot air near the surface rises quickly through cooler air above it, forming an updraft. As the air rises, it cools and eventually descends back through the center of the vortex.🌪️
If a steady supply of warm unstable air is available for the dust devil, it will continue to move across the ground. However, once the warm unstable air is depleted, the dust devil will dissipate.
