Broke up my work double today to spend an encouraging few hours raising funds to support women’s reproductive rights, in the year 2022, alongside the generous women of @andgatherforgood and on behalf of @regardingherfood. My first cake walk!!!!! Surrounded by gorgeous whole cakes and massive sheet cakes which were cut up and sold by the thousandth slice. A really sweet girl named Arya won @thessa.diadem’s purple cake! And as much as I love cake — and I purchased pieces created by the sweets chefs of @therosevenice and @pizzana — for 2.5 weeks now — as long as it took for this event to take shape — I’ve been thinking of @ladyandlarder’s promised “cheese” cake, and y’all, I landed on #7, and I WON THIS CAKE!!!! It’s currently in the @alldaybabyla walk-in! Four tiers of American cheese wheels (@lafemmeepicure typed it into my Notes): cypress grove truffle tremor (goat) jasper hill moses sleeper (cow brie) capriole julianna (goat) mt. tam triple cream (cow) When I won, Sarah said, “Nobody loves cheese as much as Lien!!” Thank you so much to the hundreds who joined us at @redbirdla today. Thank you to the incomparable restaurant chefs and bakers all over the city who donated their time and talent. Indebted to @sugarbearbakes, @sherry_gurl and Amy Fraser for their hearts. This situation is real, and I’m deeply anxious over it, and with your help, there’s so much I still want to do. Have to do. Years from now, when we look back at this time, will our response have been enough?
