There are some issues (like when both parties are adamant about pursuing custody) where mediation likely won’t result in an agreement (unless at least one party is willing to concede). However, in most divorce, child support and cases involving disputes over rights and visitation, mediation is and can be a good thing. Think about it...would you rather have a stranger (the judge or jury) tell you how to coparent and how to divide your property, or would you rather decide your own terms- understanding that you’ve got to give to get?
