Politicians are unquestionably held to a high standard, but the events of the past week have proved the bar is much higher when you’re a woman in power. A few days ago a video emerged of Finland's Prime Minister, Sanna Marin dancing with friends at a party. The viral clip of the 36-year-old has been met with scathing media and public commentary, forcing her to even issue a statement saying she’d take a drug test to prove illegal activity was involved.⁠ ⁠ Could the reaction have been different if Marin were a man? We only need to look at our PM Anthony Albanese chugging a beer at a Gang of Youths concert this week to answer that. The live crowd were cheering him on, the internet’s dubbed him a hero and no one’s questioned his ability to run the country.
