These first few days of June, I spent eating hot chicken @alldaybabyla (monthly fried chicken & bubbly night??), tasting + LOVING all of @jfiguer1’s new summer cocktails — the Pink Negroni Swizzle featuring an all-new Mexican gin, ahhh!, trying @jonathanwhitener’s new skewer sets at @hereslookingatyoula, and as always, both meeting + being reunited with the best guests in the world. I also slithered into @melodywinebar + ate delicious tacos, ceviche + divine vegetables by @malli__la (TY @eheitner!) I woke up on the East Coast today, and I’m about to immerse myself into the world of @thisisfabchs (76+ women in hospitality get together in Charleston!) — created by a woman I admire + love to reality-check myself with: @ranwein. Five things (all linked in my bio): 1. Women restaurateurs: The @beardfoundation’s Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Program is now accepting apps for the next 20-women cohort! I was a part of the inaugural class in 2017 and was just in DC gathering with all the alumni from the past five years, and it’s encouraged so much entrepreneurial energy out of me. 2. Dana Cowin (@fwscout) has created a PRINT ZINE! I just pre-ordered my copy, and the first drop is going in the mail next week. Dana’s looking for shops + restaurants interested in selling issues of Speaking Broadly, too. BIG congratulations/love, Dana! 3. Though I haven’t yet seen “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” I was so viscerally moved by Brian Lin’s (@briantheory) piece that examined both the movie and his Asian family — their failures, his abandonment issues and more. I relate so much. Brian, along with a few other of my writerly colleagues, remind me that I oughta to pick up the pen more to express. 4. @alldaybabyla: Jorge’s new cocktails, by the by, are the: “Pineapple” Daiquiri, Pink Negroni Swizzle, Honeydew Mint Margarita, Desert Island + Little Blue Drink.
