On board HMS Queen Elizabeth, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall joined a reception hosted by the South Atlantic Medal Association 1982 (SAMA 82) in partnership with both HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales to mark the 40th Anniversary of the Falklands Conflict. SAMA 82, of which His Royal Highness is Patron, was formed by veterans of the Falklands conflict with the aim of maintaining and promoting a sense of pride and comradeship among all involved in the South Atlantic Campaign. Events and commemorations have been held both across the UK and in the South Atlantic, culminating in national, simultaneous acts of thanksgiving on June 14 for all Service personnel who lost their lives in the conflict.
