Maestro Romolo Bulla considers a proof of a mezzotint lithograph by #louisfratino. Having begun exploring printmaking in earnest this past year, first making copperplate etchings in New York, Louis recently came to Rome to discover the classic technique of stone lithography with the @litografiarbulla. Experimenting with varied mark making styles, he was particularly drawn to the subtractive approach of mezzotint, where a rich black ground is laid first on the stone, which he could then draw into, scraping away the greasy lithographic ink to reveal positive space. @jahanxajavi and I are looking forward to sharing more of our book collaboration with Louis soon!
