Electronic artist and producer @_mariauzor, received support to market her self-released EP ‘Songs for Luminous Living’. Having previously had small budgets or no budget at all for promotion, Maria used the support to employ a radio plugger, get her EP mastered, artwork designed and create multiple music videos.
“I really understood the value of getting help to promote your release so that it’s able to reach an audience. My aim was to increase visibility and grow my audience ahead of future releases down the line.”
Maria began making electronic music as a way of creating a more diverse musical landscape. From her experience, whilst there are a good number of female-identifying musicians in the electronic music scene, visibility is still a problem.
“Even more so for female-identifying electronic artists of colour. I’ve never played an all-female line-up. And can count the times when I’ve not been the only artist of colour on a bill on two fingers.”
Maria is currently demoing for her debut album, to be released next year.
Here Maria explains why she applied for support and shares her top tip for anyone thinking of applying.
