Meet Tyrus contributor @marisamidori, an illustrator from Vancouver, BC and currently based in Seattle, WA. Her Tyrus artwork (pictured here alongside her personal work) was part of an experiment for the Outwit Deadlines section, where we gave the same brief to two illustrators with just 24 hours to complete a sketch (check out both illustrations at tyrus.design). Marisa’s style achieves the balance of harnessing the wonderful aspects of digital while keeping beautifully hand done elements. We asked her to share who and what have influenced her personal style: “My main influences from a young age were my mother, who is a mixed media textile artist, and my grandfather, who was a watercolour painter. After that, my creative friends have been the biggest influence from the cartoons, movies, and other media that they have recommended to me. I spend a lot of time wondering about what my personal style would look like if I had gone to a different school or taken different creative paths because it is so heavily influenced by the people in my creative circle.” #AirbnbTyrus
