@skinceuticals sent over their Sheer Physical UV Defense sunscreen, and I really wanted to love it 🥲 unfortunately, this one didn’t work out for me, so let me break it down for you. First up, this sunscreen is SPF 50 (which we LOVE!) and offers broad spectrum protection. They claim that it’s tested post-procedure, meaning that it’s gentle enough for use on sensitized skin. It’s a completely mineral sunscreen. This sunscreen needs to be shaken up - there’s a little ball on the inside to mix the product up. It’s a really thin runny formula, which can get a little messy. Even with a lot of blending, this left a slight whitecast on me, and I didn’t love how it dried down. It’s not a hydrating sunscreen, so if you’ve got oily skin, you might enjoy this one. For me, sunscreens like this tend to cling to and emphasize any dry patches. It feels like a mattifying sunscreen, but does leave a slight glow to the skin. I had sort of picked at my skin the night before, so my barrier was feeling a little sensitized, and I was surprised at how much this stung when I applied it, especially because of the claims that it’s tested post-procedure. At $36 for 50ml/1.7fl oz, it’s sort of typical for an American sunscreen, but pretty pricey compared to other SPFs in my collection that out-perform it. Overall, I can’t recommend this one, although I think those with oily skin would like it more than I did. Have you tried this?
