On World Day Against Trafficking we want to highlight that trafficked children are some of the most vulnerable in the UK. Each year, around 10,500 people are recorded as being trafficked in England and Wales. Of those, more than 4 in 10 are children. Barnardo’s is one of the few organisations in the UK to provide direct, specialist support to trafficked children. We help these young victims cope with the practical and emotional traumas of being trafficked. Our specialist support workers help them to understand what is happening with social care services, the police and immigration – in ways that they can understand.
